I never thought about immunizations until I became friends with 2 athletes -- wheelchair athletes. Both had polio as kids which paralyzed their legs. I thought about how lucky I was to have been able to be immunized against polio and other infectious diseases like measles. Because of immunizations we don't see those diseases much in the US. Now I'm hoping that a vaccine for Lyme disease is created SOON. Prevention is where its at.
